Professor Marston and the Wonder Women

wonder women
a Movie Review by Robyn Trask
It is refreshing to see a movie where a polyamorous relationship is shown as simply a part of the overall fabric of the character’s lives. Professor Marston & the Wonder Women is about the creator of Wonder Woman and his relationships with Elizabeth Holloway Marston, his legal wife, and Olive Byrne, their mutual partner. The movie beautifully shows the development of the ...

Polyamory & Polygamy, “Not the New Gay Marriage”: Is the Media Right?

Polyamory & Polygamy, “Not the New Gay Marriage”: Is the Media Right?

Following the Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage last month, the media and internet have gone crazy over the questions raised about polyamory and/or polygamous marriage in Justice Roberts Dissent. Many of these articles are full of opinions disguised as fact and an obvious lack of real research.  The misinformation is in some cases completely baseless, and in other cases lacks a deeper look at broader issues.

There are a few of repeated themes emerging in many of the articles ...

When Will the Media Really Get Polyamory?

When Will the Media Really Get Polyamory?

by Robyn L Trask

Why do the media so often miss the mark when they write articles or do a feature on polyamory? Why do so many approach the subject with a ready-made idea of what they are looking for? Sometimes I really have to ask; why is polyamory seemingly so evasive as a subject for so many?

A Multiplicity of Valentine Hearts

A Multiplicity of Valentine Hearts

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love. Kids scrawl out valentines to exchange at school. Stores are packed with cards, flowers and chocolates of every kind. Red and pink satin and lace lingerie litter the shopping malls. A day focused on couples, or at least coupling, makes it easy to forget that Love doesn’t have to be limited to only one person or that ...

Just one week until we leave for New York and the Loving More Polyamory Retreat. There is still room and we would love to have more people join us.

Real Polyamorous Families

The concept of polyamory is often misunderstood by the general public and the media. Tell someone you are polyamorous and it conjures images for the average person of swing parties and clubs with people getting it on in dark corners or polygamous families with men controlling unhappy sister wives and lots of children. These images perpetuated by Hollywood are not polyamory, nor do they even represent the swing lifestyle or polygamy accurately.
When it come to families and polyamory, ...

Polyamory interview on Radio Netherlands International English Program The State We’re In

The State We’re In, is an English language international show on world affairs.  We had the pleasure of doing an interview with them last week which is available currently at http://www.rnw.nl/english/radioprogramme/state-were.  This week’s show features my partners Jesus, Ben and I talking about our relationship with each other and how polyamory works for each of us.  It is very positive and in my opinion well done.  I was struck by them asking Ben a question about what he ...

The Marginalizing of Polyamory by Mainstream Media and Academia

On Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the Conference on World Affairs a panel presentation was being presented From Monogamy to Polyamory and Everything in Between.  Wow this is great that polyamory is being included in the Conference on World Affairs held annually at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  Just one problem, on the panel of “experts” there was not one person who really knew or understood polyamory.  The local polyamory group in Boulder caught wind of this via Amy ...

MomLogic.com on Polyamory and Raising Kids

mom_logic

Robyn Trask of Loving More interviewed, along with several other awesome poly’s, for an article on raising kids in poly families by  Mom Logic.  The article is actually nice.  As is typical many of the comments are scathing.

Excerpt

For some, being polyamorous provides more love and support for the kids than does being in a monogamous household.

Ronda Kaysen: Most nights, Matt Bullen’s 7-year-old ...
